About The Community Kitchen

OUR MISSION
Providing FOOD for people who are hungry, CONVERSATION for people who are lonely, REST for people who are struggling, and a VOICE for people in need.

NUTRITIOUS MEALS
Nutrition is crucial for our guests as it directly impacts their health and well-being. Providing access to nutritional meals is a vital component of comprehensive support and healthcare for people with food insecurity.  Adequate nutrition supports physical and mental health, helping to maintain energy levels, reducing susceptibility to illnesses and diseases, and improves mental well-being.
The Community Kitchen works with partners to intentionally choose nutrient-dense foods over foods that have empty-calories.  One of the ways the Community Kitchen accomplishes this is through a partnership with Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud.  Their menus are curated by registered dieticians to ensure proper nutrition is being offered through our food.  The Community Kitchen is a preparatory kitchen and while we serve prepared meals, we do not cook the meals. The partnership with Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud includes purchasing a protein, starch and vegetable for the daily main meal.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
It is our goal to provide nutritious prepared meals to anyone experiencing food insecurity and provide people with a supportive community as they seek to become more self-sufficient.

The Community Kitchen is open 7 days a week, including holidays and is actively making a difference in our community.

Throughout the pandemic and after, the Community Kitchen served over 300,000 meals, including over 15,000 meals to our non-profit partners such as the Salvation Army’s medical respite program. This was all done without a single day of interruption in the Kitchen’s daily meal services.

In addition to providing our community members in need with access to food and community, the Kitchen has also provided guests with information about other services that could be of help to them.

In a recent guest survey, the top three needs met by the Community Kitchen included providing needed food and nutrition, a safe and comfortable place to be, and giving guests a sense of community and connection with others.

The Kitchen is a community where everyone in need is welcome, and its impact can be felt throughout Larimer County.

Since the pandemic, the need for food has greatly increased. In 2019 the Community Kitchen served 57,303 meals. That number jumped to 90,042 meals in 2020, and has continued to grow each year. In 2023, the Kitchen expects to serve over 135,000 meals. The increased need coupled with the rise in food costs, means the Kitchen needs your support now more than ever.

Our organization relies on the hard work and generosity of our community. There are a number of ways to get involved with the Community Kitchen, whether that is volunteering, becoming a donor or sponsor, or hosting a fundraiser or food drive.

Over 100,000 Meals Served Annually

The Community Kitchen serves meals from its location and also works with other agencies in our community to ensure people have access to food. Meals are provided to support Salvation Army’s motel respite program, breakfast at the Loveland Resource Center, and other agencies providing food items.

The Community Kitchen is the only agency in Loveland open 7 days a week providing food to people experiencing food insecurity.
